Friends of Arana Gulch Walks its Talk
and Assists City Parks & Recreation Dept. with Restoration Volunteer Labor
On August 9th, 2010, three members of FOAG joined two Parks & Recreation personnel in hand diggingg invasive weeds from the Santa Cruz tarplant's southern critical habitat in Arana Gulch greenbelt. It was hot, dry work and blisters formed. But we weeded and raked for two hours and filled two huge plastic bags. It felt good.
Plans are being made for more of these volunteer restoration work days. FOAG has been eager to do hands on work for tarplant restoration since the early days of the 1997 Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the CA Dept. of Fish and Game.
Plan to join us for the next work day!
